Top Debuts: 1934-1938


Hey guys! So I have another post in the Top debuts series for you. I have been looking at how long it will take me to complete this series and it looks like it will be longer than I expected. I had originally said 13 post but I have done 10 post so far and I am only up to 1933. Anyway today I am doing 1934-1938. So let’s get started.

1934
Carollee and Janean- These were the top debut for girls in 1934. They were each given to 12 babies.
Carollee could possibly mean free man in German. It was given to no babies in 2011.
  • Janean means God is gracious in Hebrew. In 2011 5 babies were given this name.
Franchot- This was the top debut for boys in 1934 and was given to 9 babies. Franchot means from France I French. It was given to no babies in 2011.

1935
Treasure- This was the top debut for girls in 1935 and was given to 16 babies. Treasure means precious possession in English. In 2011 189 babies received this name.
Haile- This was the top debut for boys in 1935 and was given to 11 babies. Haile means from the hay clearing in English. In 2011 7 babies were given this name.

1936
Shelva- This was the top debut for girls in 1936 and was given to 89 babies. Shelve is an American English name. in 2011 no babies were given this name.
Renny and Shelva- These were the top debuts for boys in 193. They each were given to 9 babies.
  • Renny means small and mighty in Irish. It was given to 7 babies in 2011.
  • Shelva is an American English name and no babies were given this name in 2011.

1937
Deeann- This was the top debut for girls in 1937 and was given to 18 babies. Deeann means swarthy in Welsh. In 2011 no babies were given to this name.
Gaynell- This was the top debut for boys in 1937 and was given to 11 babies. Gaynell means happy, shiny in American. In 2011 no babies were given this name.

1938
Sonjia- This was the top debut for girls in 1938 and was given to 19 babies. Sonjia means wisdom in Greek. In 2011 non babies were given this name.
Daivd- This was the top debut for boys in 1938 and was given to 9 babies. I couldn’t find the meaning of this name. in 2011 no babies were given this name.

So that is the list. For 1936 I was so surprised to see Shelva on both the girl and boy list! Anyway I hope you liked this and don’t forget to comment. Bye for now :).
